I feel conflicted about this rating. On the one hand, the story was completely gripping. But on the other, I had some questions in the end and didn’t totally love the writing. And yet I really did enjoy the way it was so feminist, but then it was also twisted and sometimes hard to follow and ultimately I’m not sure how to feel about the characters in the end. If you enjoy twisty thrillers a la Gone Girl, you’ll probably like this, though I think it should have come with a bit of a trigger warning. Definitely made me want to visit the Scottish Highlands! Short summary: when Grady’s wife disappears, he loses more than just his love, he loses his house, his money, and his passion-writing. So his agent sends him to a picturesque island to limit distractions, except strange things keep happening..like visions of his wife.
